11/20/2017 0 Comments Final Blog Post This class was an excellent experience for me. However, the first day I walked in, I was actually kind of disappointed. I was disappointed because the first few days, all we did was take notes on what the parts of a camera are and how/why they do what they do. We also learned rules of photography such as symmetry, the rule of thirds, and texture, so we could take more aesthetically pleasing photos. Looking back at it, I wish I would have payed attention even more than I already did. Learning how the camera works really helps with taking a photo. You begin to realize the limits and boundaries on what a camera can do when. It helps even more to know and understand all the rules like pattern, depth of field, and lines. Overall I just understand photography so much more than I did before, and that has enabled me to become a much better photographer as you can see in these few photos here. Bad Photos Better Photos In this class we also were also required to do quite a lot in photoshop. Before this class I always thought that photoshop was this extravagant tool that professionals used to edit photos. I thought that it was super complicated and hard to even try and crop someone out of a photo. However, throughout this class I have learned so much about photoshop. The most important being that anyone can learn to photoshop. Other more technical things that I learned are how you can use layer masks to create amazing looking photos with surprisingly little photoshopping, I also learned how to manipulate color in a photo letting some things be black and white while other things are in full color. The photoshop piece that I am the most proud of is the one where the man fades into smoke. I am most proud of this photo not because of how it looks, but how much I learned in making it. This is the photo that really opened me up to the potential of what I could do in photoshop.

For these assignments we had to create three puns through the use of multiple photos and create two aesthetically pleasing images that demonstrated the word you chose to define. These are my Visual Puns. From left to right they are a Firefly, Harry Potter, and an English muffin. These are my two Visual Dictionary Photoshop images. In doing this assignment I learned a lot in photoshop. I learned more about and felt more comfortable using layer masks and further understanding the selection tools. I also am getting faster and more fluent in how I do anything at all in photoshop.

On the day I took these photos, you couldn't see any blue in the sky and I was waiting for it to clear up a little. It never cleared up though, and as a result my photos are a bit blurry because of the lower shutter speed.
11/6/2017 0 Comments Photoshop TutorialsFor this assignment we had to look up some photoshop tutorials that we found interesting and attempt to do them. In doing this assignment I learned a lot about layer masks and how you can manipulate them. I like how both of mine turned out and I think they both have a separate kind of artistic appeal. However, I would have liked to retry the first one in this post. I still like it a lot but I would try to minimize the lines you see in the smoke.
