11/20/2017 0 Comments Final Blog Post This class was an excellent experience for me. However, the first day I walked in, I was actually kind of disappointed. I was disappointed because the first few days, all we did was take notes on what the parts of a camera are and how/why they do what they do. We also learned rules of photography such as symmetry, the rule of thirds, and texture, so we could take more aesthetically pleasing photos. Looking back at it, I wish I would have payed attention even more than I already did. Learning how the camera works really helps with taking a photo. You begin to realize the limits and boundaries on what a camera can do when. It helps even more to know and understand all the rules like pattern, depth of field, and lines. Overall I just understand photography so much more than I did before, and that has enabled me to become a much better photographer as you can see in these few photos here. Bad Photos Better Photos In this class we also were also required to do quite a lot in photoshop. Before this class I always thought that photoshop was this extravagant tool that professionals used to edit photos. I thought that it was super complicated and hard to even try and crop someone out of a photo. However, throughout this class I have learned so much about photoshop. The most important being that anyone can learn to photoshop. Other more technical things that I learned are how you can use layer masks to create amazing looking photos with surprisingly little photoshopping, I also learned how to manipulate color in a photo letting some things be black and white while other things are in full color. The photoshop piece that I am the most proud of is the one where the man fades into smoke. I am most proud of this photo not because of how it looks, but how much I learned in making it. This is the photo that really opened me up to the potential of what I could do in photoshop.

For these assignments we had to create three puns through the use of multiple photos and create two aesthetically pleasing images that demonstrated the word you chose to define. These are my Visual Puns. From left to right they are a Firefly, Harry Potter, and an English muffin. These are my two Visual Dictionary Photoshop images. In doing this assignment I learned a lot in photoshop. I learned more about and felt more comfortable using layer masks and further understanding the selection tools. I also am getting faster and more fluent in how I do anything at all in photoshop.
11/6/2017 0 Comments Photo Assingment 6For this assignment I had to take portrait photos. In doing this assignment, I was taught the lesson of how much the weather can affect your photos. On the day I took these photos, you couldn't see any blue in the sky and I was waiting for it to clear up a little. It never cleared up though, and as a result my photos are a bit blurry because of the lower shutter speed.
11/6/2017 0 Comments Photoshop TutorialsFor this assignment we had to look up some photoshop tutorials that we found interesting and attempt to do them. In doing this assignment I learned a lot about layer masks and how you can manipulate them. I like how both of mine turned out and I think they both have a separate kind of artistic appeal. However, I would have liked to retry the first one in this post. I still like it a lot but I would try to minimize the lines you see in the smoke.
10/30/2017 1 Comment Photo Assignment 5: Light PaintingFor this assignment I had to do something called light painting. Essentially it is taking a very long photo in which any moving light is visible as a bright line in the photo. In doing this assignment I learned how light interacts with the camera. In some of my photos I learned that it flared when I pointed the light right at the camera but if I put the flashlight more sideways, then it wouldn't flare.
10/24/2017 0 Comments Photoshop Assignment: SchoolFor this assignment we were required to take a photo of the school and photoshop it so as to give it a theme. My theme was marvel and so I added a few hero's and one villain. In doing this assignment I learned a lot about photoshop and how it works. For instance I figured out that you can erase part of an adjustment layer that is over an area you don't want to be effected. I also just became more comfortable with photoshop.
10/23/2017 0 Comments Photo Assignment 4 : Black and WhiteIn doing this assignment I learned how light works in a photo. Converting it to black and white really changes the photo as you do not have color anymore, but it enhances how you see the light bring depth into the photo.
10/17/2017 1 Comment Panoramic'sFor this assignment, we made panoramic's. In order to make them we used tripods to keep them steady and took pictures in a rotational manner. Then we used photoshop to stitch them together to give the appearance of it being one photo.
10/16/2017 0 Comments Photo Assignment 2, MotionFor this assignment, I tried to capture the idea of motion. For this I had my brother ride loops around me on his bike. Then, as he rode past me, I did my best to try to pan my camera with him. As a result, the background is blurred and my brother is mostly in focus. I found it very difficult to do this well, but I got a few decent ones. Shutter: 1/10 Aperture: f 4.0 ISO: 80 10/6/2017 1 Comment Photo Assignment 1, EventFor this assignment, I was required to take photos of an event. The photos I took are supposed to allow to figure out what the event may be, without me having to tell you. However, I am still going to tell you that these are photos from a wedding I recently attended.
